There are three models in the GEN 5 range, the 0311XP (which offer extreme performance), the 0311P (which are the most all round performers) and the 0311T (tour level precision). The PXG GEN 5 0311XP are a huge step forward from the already excellent Gen 4 0311XP irons and PXG rate these as the finest club they have ever produced.
Each head of the PXG Gen 5 irons is five times forged from 8620 soft carbon steel, and this creates an incredibly tight grain structure that delivers increased strength - prolonging the life of the grooves whilst enhancing the overall appearance and feel at the same time. Gen 5 irons feature five tungsten heel/toe weights, with an additional large weight located near the CG point at the back of the clubhead.
These stunning new irons also feature Power Channel Technology which is a U-shaped corridor built into the internal surface of the club face to increase deflection and bend in the top sector of the head. This serves to deliver maximum energy transfer from clubhead to ball - increasing the launch angle, trajectory and ball speed. The technological advancements don't stop there though, as the GEN 5 irons also benefit from XCOR2 which is the result of years of research and development in the PXG lab. This revolutionary polymer core material has been designed specifically for these irons and its extremely lightweight properties helps to reduce the mass of the core. This has allowed PXG to position more weight low, and to the perimeter of the backside of the clubhead which massively increases MOI and levels of forgiveness.
