It was a case of the calm before the PGA Championship storm at the Byron Nelson with 26 under needed to get the job done at TPC Craig Ranch in Texas. In the end it was defending champion K.H. Lee who repeated last year's sting operation with a storming final round to take the spoils.
The South Korean shot a career low 63 Sunday to come from four back to win by one over home favourite Jordan Spieth, who himself must be very pleased with his rehearsal for Southern Hills. For the 30 year old Lee, he bags his second PGA Tour victory in 107 events, this time an 80/1 outsider, the first time 150/1, and becomes the tournament's career money leader. The win also sees him break into the lucrative World's top 50 jumping from 88th to 41st in the latest rankings.
Using a Callaway Epic Max driver KH Lee hit 37 fairways for the week averaging 306.8 yards (T22 in the field). The 30 year old then found 55 greens in regulation with his Callaway X Forged CB irons, T18 in the field. But the key club for Lee was his Odyssey Works Versa 2-Ball Fang putter, needing just 109 putts total, gaining 3.033 strokes Sunday with 24 total putts. For the week, the Orlando resident tallied two eagles and 25 birdies versus just three bogeys.
