"No lead is big enough at The Masters," we kept telling each other as Scottie Scheffler started his final round at The Masters. Surely he would show a chink in his armour after a dodgy bit of tree surgery Saturday evening. But no. The 25 year old did what he has been doing all year and simply made Sunday a procession. When his knees did eventually wobble on the final green, perhaps it was emotion washing in, the cushion was so big as to not matter.

Others to play a part in another epic Masters were Rory McIlroy whose holed bunker shot in the last was greeted with rapturous fervour by the crowds and saw him come home second. He'll surely be a factor as this Major season progresses.

After looking the part for a long time, the wheels came for Cam Smith and he had to settle for a tie for third with Shane Lowry who will be delighted with another excellent Masters showing. But the Green Jacket and a fourth win in his last six starts goes to Scheffler and the world is his oyster.

Using his TaylorMade Stealth Plus driver Scottie drove his ball on average 298.9 yards for the week, 16th longest in the field and found 43 fairways for a T8 field driving accuracy clip.

A superb display with his TaylorMade P7TW irons found 49 greens in regulation, T5 in the field. On the greens the 25 year old was terrific all week with his Scotty Cameron Special Select Timeless Tourtype GSS Prototype putter needing 110 putts total. For the week he circled 21 birdies against nine bogeys and one double.

Austin Country Club is one hell of a tricky track isn't it??!! Armed with both the game and local knowledge, hometown hero and Longhorn Scottie Scheffler went one better than last year and emerged as the last man standing after a gruelling week of the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play.

As can and does often happen in this format, the final was a tame affair with Scheffler easing past former winner Kevin Kisner 4&3 to claim his third win in his last five starts. After losing to Billy Horschel in last year's final, the 2022 version of Scheffler was confident and clinical and ascends to World No. 1 for the first time. The 25 year old dispatched of Billy Horschel, Dustin Johnson and Kisner at the weekend en route to victory, going 6-1-0 for the week with that only loss to Tommy Fleetwood. He's now a 16/1 shot to win The Masters which gets underway on April 7th.

The PGA Tour would be boring if the winner shot 20 under every week! Which is why it's great when the circus visits Bay Hill once a year to beat up the best in the world with its wind and rough and devilish setup. Last man standing at the 2022 installment of the Arnold Palmer Invitational was Scottie Scheffler who continued his meteoric rise to the top of the golfing world on a Sunday of carnage.

The 25-year-old needed only a level par round to come from solo fourth (two shots back) entering Sunday to win whilst around him brave challengers like Billy Horschel and Viktor Hovland faltered. The US Open doesn't start until mid June but yesterday in Orlando it must have felt like they got the dates wrong.

For Scheffler though, the purple patch continues. The Dallas resident now has two wins in three starts, adding the API to his Phoenix Open victory of February 13th and climbs to fifth in the latest World Golf Rankings.

Using his TaylorMade Stealth Plus driver Scottie drove his ball on average 311.9 yards for the week, 13th longest in the field but found just 29 fairways (including only 5 on Sunday) for a T55 field driving accuracy clip.

A superb display with his TaylorMade P7TW irons however found 44 greens in regulation, T9 in the field and ranked him No. 1 in Strokes Gained: Approach with +8.062. On the greens Scheffler again came good in the clutch on Sunday with his Scotty Cameron Special Select Timeless Tourtype GSS Prototype putter finding a standout par saver from 22 feet on the 15th and a 60 foot two-putt on the final green. In total for the week he circled two eagles and 16 birdies versus 13 bogeys and one double.

Using the new TaylorMade Stealth driver Scheffler hit 35 fairways over the four rounds (T18 in accuracy) and averaged a healthy 327.9 yards (8th in the field). In total he ranked 5th in SG: Off-the-Tee with 5.226.

That laid the foundation for 56 greens in regulation with his TaylorMade P7TW irons, 8th in the field. Around the greens Scheffler was tidy with his Titleist Vokey SM8 wedges gaining a SG: Around clip of +2.776, also 8th in the field.

Using a Scotty Cameron Special Select Timeless Tourtype GSS Prototype he amassed 26 birdies for the week, first in that stat, versus eight bogeys and one double. He ranked 2nd in SG: Putting (6.494) and 2nd in putts per GIR (1.571).
