After 3 years of waiting, fans of Rick Shiels and Peter Finch finally got to watch the YouTube stars make their way around Golfbidder HQ, The Home of Pre-owned Clubs, to pick out their £500 bags filled with quality used clubs. The concept is simple, each player has 5 minutes to pick their clubs to take on their opponent with the total cost of the bag being under £500. But this year came with a twist, Rick and Peter chose each other’s putter.

Which clubs did they put in their bags?

It did not take long for Rick and Pete to navigate the new Golfbidder website and select their clubs to take each other on once again.

Let battle commence

Rick Shiels and Peter Finch then made their way to St George’s Hill Golf Club for an 18-hole match play, to battle it out against each other with their £500 Golfbidder bags. In 2016 Peter Finch took the win, 2017 Rick Shiels, 2018 Peter Finch again, 2019 Rick took another W, then in 2020 Peter took the victory. Who was going to win in 2023?

Peter Finch started off very strong with his TaylorMade R11 driver and his Ping i20 3 iron, whilst Rick took some time adjusting to his Titleist AP2 iron set, despite showing promising early signs with his beloved Cobra King F9 driver. Peter Finch then hit in his words “one of my best shots of the year” on hole 5, par 3, 197 yards, using his Ping i20 3 iron once again. 9 holes in, Peter Finch was 1 up, with both players enjoying their £500 Golfbidder bags. After 13 holes, Rick Shiels then went 1 up on Peter Finch, making the game incredibly competitive as they approached the end of their 18 holes. They both approached the 14th hole and once again both enjoyed their 3 irons and came within 6 and 3 foot from the pin. Going into the 17th hole, Rick Shiels was 2 up and could smell victory over Peter Finch, when Peter Finch made the most of his TaylorMade R11 driver with the Atlas prototype shaft and Rick not being able to make a 3-yard putt with his Odyssey 2 Ball to secure the win. Going into the 18th hole, Peter Finch hit his best drive of the day, describing his R11 driver as “an absolute monster”, as Rick Shiels hit his Cobra King F9 driver into the trees and struggling to play himself out … leading to Peter Finch squaring it up for a draw in the last hole.
