After being bought in 2019 by a Montreal-based company called Laps, the leader in North American golf re-commerce with Golf Avenue, there were big plans to grow Golfbidder. However, the acquisition occurred as the world was going into lockdown, and many of these plans had to be put on hold.
After founder Liam Robb retired in early 2022, Matt Barham joined Golfbidder in February 2022 (after several years as UK CEO for eBay Classifieds Group) with the focus on accelerating all the plans now life has returned to normal, as well as integrating the business into a larger organisation.
During his first year, Golfbidder launched a new website, integrated a new back-end system, and Golfbidder Pro passed £2.5 million in trade-ins, money that put straight back into the golf industry.
