Congratulations Rors!
No lead is too big for Rory McIlroy to reel in!! Six shots off the pace heading into the final round, with Scottie Scheffler all but home and hosed is just the kind of day that the Northern Irishman relishes.
Paired with the Texan definitely helped at East Lake, you could cut the tension with a knife. Once Rory joined struggling Scottie at the top of the leaderboard, the nerves kicked in, for both men. It all added to the drama. In the end it was one loose shot too many on the final hole that did for Scheffler and handed a delighted McIlroy his third FedExCup title (2016, 2019, 2022).
With the win came the riches. An $18 million lodgement into the McIlroy current account to bring his 2022 earnings to over $28 million.
How did he do it?
Using a TaylorMade Stealth Plus driver Rory hit 34 fairways at East Lake, T10 in the field, and was the longest hitter at 333.9 yards on average.
With his TaylorMade Rors Proto irons he found 54 greens in regulation, T4 in the field.
The biggest improvement in his game this season has been on the greens and again at the Tour Championship he excelled with a field topping 107 total putts to circle two eagles and 23 birdies, versus seven bogeys and one double.

Congratulations Rors!
Closing a tumultuous week for golf, all eyes were on the final round of the Canadian Open. It was as if the PGA Tour was somehow being auditioned by the golfing public to see if it was good enough, to see if it was fit for purpose. If ever the stars needed to shine, this was the time...and oh my goodness did they put on a show!
They say 'pressure is for tyres and tension is for wires' but nobody told Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas and Tony Finau who performed with the shackles off, putting on an exhibition of not just golf, but camaraderie and sportsmanship as they duked it out at the wonderful St Georges.
Ahead of them Justin Rose was doing his bit, turning back the clock, just missing out on a 59. It was all happening.
In the end the man who spoke from the heart all week did his real talking on the golf course, winning the trophy and what might ultimately turn out to be a much more important prize for his Tour, the soul of golf. Rory rolled his final putt in with thousands of fans flooded around the edge of the green singing Ole Ole Ole, marshalled simply by two policemen on mountain bikes. It was a wonderful chorus to end a note perfect audition.
How did he do it?
Using his TaylorMade SIM driver Rory drove his ball a field leading average of 316.8 yards hitting 27 fairways. That translated to 49 greens found in regulation with his TaylorMade Rors Proto irons, for a T16 field clip. He ranked No. 1 in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green with +14.203, including +6.818 on Sunday. The 33-year-old can put his resurgence in 2022 in large part down his putting, rolling in 102 putts total, 1st in the stats with his TaylorMade Spider X Hydro Blast putter. In total he circled 26 birdies for the week versus just seven bogeys. With his win Rory jumps from 8th to 3rd in the latest World Golf Rankings and is now the firm favourite for this week's US Open at Brookline.
