| I have moved onto these from the Cleveland Hi bores (also good clubs) wanting a more traditional look and a bit more workability. I looked around but kept coming back to cleveland clubs for a few reasons:
1) i had owned some before
2) They aren't expensive (compared to alot of others)
3) The reviews all seem positive
I was originally after the CG Gold clubs (shiny and bright colours) but Golfbidder had these on an auction, so i read reviews and bidded. The CG4 has some type of carbon infused head. I play off just over 30 - However, i hit shots good enough to be a 15-20 HC....just my consistency SUCKS! I can really feel the difference between these and "standard" cast metal heads. You feel the hit on the ball a little more (rather than not feeling anything when you get it correct). The carbon metal also gives it a sort of matt look. So no glinting sunlight will blind you - not that we have had ANY of that this summer in Bristol.
Now some of my friends borrowed the clubs for a few rounds when i couldnt play due to injury and they received mixed reviews. However, they also noted....as i did, the amount of natural spin these get. Stories of a 200 yard 3 iron shot that hit the ground and stopped within about 5 feet were told!
Put bluntly...the better players liked the clubs more than the rubbish ones. I think this is partly down to feel when hitting, but also cos of the size of the head...which is quite small.
Another thing you notice is how light these clubs feel...its like having a stiff graphite shaft. Particularly after coming from the Hi bores, which seem heavier than most clubs. As for distance. I like the clubs, but i am not deluded. Its the same as all the other high end clubs....even the Hi bores. The 8 iron goes about 140 - 150 yards.
Final point i want to make:
These clubs have really allowed me to start working the ball. I used to go round in a join the dots pattern....straight shots. Not i look at that dog leg left with the big tree, pull out my 5 iron and hit a draw shot around it...similar story with fades. Nice and controlled. Not sliced one yet (though i have pulled and pushed a few!).
IN SUMMARY:
As i have gotten carried away. In short - These irons are beautiful clubs that allow you to progress your game. They are forgiving, but perhaps not forgiving enough for those starting the game, or those that have not yet reached the stage where they can work the ball. They are lightweight, good looking (in an understated way) and good performers |

| I have recently upgraded to these irons, although they were not bought from this site, I am a member & a big fan of golfbidder and so thought the members may benefit from knowing some more about these irons.
Firstly, don't be fooled by the 'tour' tag on these. Whilst it is true that the head is noticeably smaller than my old irons, they could be used effectively by golfers at all levels.
Secondly, if you have played a bit and have a clue about what you are doing - try these! I have found that the smaller head makes me focus more on every shot, and also gives me an extra 15 yards, probably down to the fantastic actionlite shafts that seem to weigh nothing!
When I started thinking about upgrading my irons, I immediately went to the big brands. Do yourselves a favour and give these a try, I had a go with my mates CG golds and was impressed, and after trying several other cleveland models i found my set of cg4 tour 2nd hand for a great price and haven't looked back. Why pay a fortune for used TM/Callaway/Nike etc when you can pick up quality like this for an absolute song.
Regards.
