John Rollins
Residence: Richmond, Virginia
DOB: 25/06/1975
John is a two-time Virginia state amateur champion.
Before earning qualification onto the PGA Tour, John played on the Nationwide Tour in 1999. He made just four cuts in first 12 Nationwide Tour starts before his game clicked into place in July and finished the season by making 13 consecutive cuts, the most by any player during the 2001 Nationwide Tour season. Eleven of his 14 top-25s came during his end of season streak and he defeated Rod Pampling with birdie-3 on first extra hole at Hershey Open for first career win. This great end to the season helped John to earn his first Tour card by virtue of his 16th place finish at the 1999 PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament. His only career top-10 on the PGA Tour came at the 2000 Greater Milwaukee Open where a final round 63 vaulted him from 36th into a tie for 9th.
John returned to the PGA Tour for second time thanks to sixth-place finish on 2001 Nationwide Tour money list. He won his first tour event since the 2002 Canadian Open when holding off Bob May to win the B.C Open at Turning Stone Resort by one stroke.
The highlight of John’s 2008 season came at the Legend Reno-Tahoe Open where he finished in a tie for 2nd place. Prior to this he achieve a further top-10 at the Buick Open where rounds of 64 and 64 - his low round for the season - helped him into a tie for 9th. John won a shade over $1million this year and finished the season in 103rd place on the Money List.

2009 World Golf Championship - CA Championship |
12-15 March 2009 - Doral Golf and Spa Resort - Phil Mickelson won his first World Golf Championships title on Sunday at the CA Championship, where he held off Nick Watney to take the title by one stroke and his 36th career victory. However this was perhaps not the most news worthy story of the week. During his opening round, Henrik Stenson thought it a good idea to play from out of the water! After stripping down to his boxer shorts the Swede preceded to do just this. And it was down to PGA Tour photographer Kyle Auclair to capture this magical moment. With the world’s best golf photographers trailing Tiger Woods, Kyle decided he was going to follow other players instead. Little did he know this particular sequence of images would be plastered on newspapers, websites and television shows all over the country the next day. |
In John Rollins's bag...An opening round of 76 put pay to John’s challenge this week almost before it has had time to start. Better rounds followed (71, 71 and 73) but these were never going to be enough to repair the damage caused by the opening round and result in a decent finish. John eventually ended up in a tie for 70th place.

2007 Arnold Palmer Invitational |
15-18 March - Arnold Palmer Invitational - Bay Hill Clubs and Lodge. After three runners-up spots at Bay Hill, Vijay Singh finally put the doubts to rest by banking the $990,000 first prize – and logging the 31st win of his career – in doing so equalling Harry Copper’s record for the most number of PGA Tour victories by a foreign-born player. For those amongst us of a certain age, we can take comfort from the fact that Vijay has won an astonishing 19 of those victories since turning 40. There is hope for us yet! |
