Anders Hansen
Residence: Zurich, Switzerland
DOB: 16/09/1970
Anders went to the University of Houston where he enjoyed 2 victories on the collegiate circuit. Anders is no relation to his namesake Søren – but they often seem inseparable. They both holed in one in successive weeks on The European Tour in 1999 and both claimed their maiden European Tour victories within a month of one another in 2002 and second victories in 2007. That closeness stretched to their finishing positions on the 2005 and 2006 Orders of Merit – Anders in 35th and Søren 36th in 2005, followed by their respective 33rd and 34th place finishes in 2006. They weren’t as close in 2007 with Søren finishing ten places higher, but they did end the season together – sharing 25th place in the Volvo Masters.
Anders won the BMW PGA Championship for a second time, five years after his maiden victory, when he held off the challenge of Justin Rose at Wentworth Club in 2007 in a play-off. Both his European Tour victories have therefore been in The European Tour's flagship event. In 2002 he won in record breaking style, setting a new low aggregate for the West Course - a 19 under par total of 269 which beat the previous best of 270 held by Bernhard Langer and Colin Montgomerie - but which was subsequently matched by Scott Drummond in 2004.
Anders took a while to get going in 2008. He did not secure a top-10 finish until the BMW International Open where he finished alone in second. He season improved slightly after this result but it was not until the season ending Volvo Masters that he secure his second and last top-10 of the season - finishing in a tie for 8th place. Despite only a brace of top-10’s all year, Anders still managed to stay inside the top-50 on the European Tour Order of Merit.

Anders Hansen Tournament History
2008 BMW PGA Championship |
22-25 May - BMW PGA Championship - Wentworth Club. Miguel Angel Jiménez completed the BMW treble when he won the BMW PGA Championship with a birdie on the second hole of a play-off to deny England’s Oliver Wilson his maiden European Tour title. Jiménez, who won both the 2004 BMW Asian Open and the 2004 BMW International Open, became the first player to claim the BMW ‘grand slam’ when he tapped in for a winning birdie after tying Wilson with a final round of four under par 68to finish on -11 after 72 holes. |
In Anders Hansen's bag...A pair of poor rounds and a pair of good rounds saw Anders finish in a tie for 40th. A 69 and 68 in the final round were cancelled out by a 75 and 77 in the opening and third rounds. It looks as though Anders was without a bag deal at this year’s BMW Championship. His bag started with a Callaway FT-I Tour driver. His fairway woods were Titleist 906F. His irons were also from Titleist and were the Titleist AP2 model. His wedges were Titleist Vokey Design.

2008 World Golf Championship - CA Championship |
13-16 March - Arnold Palmer Invitational - Bay Hill Club and Lodge. In typical Tiger fashion, the world #1 sank a 24-foot putt on the 72nd hole at Bay Hill for his fifth consecutive win, much to the annoyance of Bart Bryant who was looking for his first win since 2005. This was his biggest challenge since this streak began 7 months ago, Woods outlasted 45-year-old Bart Bryant and won with a birdie putt on the 72nd hole for the first time in 7 years. He turned and slammed his cap to the ground, letting out a roar to celebrate his 64th career victory, tying Ben Hogan at #3 on the PGA Tour career list. |
In Anders Hansen's bag...A pair of 67’s in the first and third rounds of the WGC CA Championship secure a solid finish. Only rounds of 71 and 73 in the second and final rounds prevented a finish higher than an tie for 12th. Admittedly not our best photo but there is still some scope for identification. From the head cover we can clearly see that his driver was a Callaway FT-5. This is accompanied by a Titleist 906F fairway wood. His irons were the Titleist AP2 Forged model.
