Jerry Kelly

Residence: Madison, Wisconsin

DOB: 23/11/1966

Jerry graduated from the University of Hartford in 1989 and turned professional that year. He however did not make it onto the PGA Tour until 1996. This followed a successful 1995 season on the second tier Nationwide Tour, when he won 2 tournaments. His career year to date is 2002, when he finished 4th on the PGA Tour money list and won the PGA Tour's Sony Open in Hawaii and Advil Western Open. These remain his only PGA Tour wins. Kelly was an all-city ice hockey selection in high school while playing for Madison East. He has said that his ice hockey background may have hurt his golf early in his career. This is because of the aggressiveness it encourages him to bring to his game. Kelly's nickname on tour is "The Cylinder" because he makes so many clutch putts. He is also the University of Wisconsin volunteer assistant golf coach. Jerry got 2008 off to a great start with a 3rd place finish at the season’s opening event. However he could not continue this form into the following weeks. He missed 3 cuts in a row and struggled to find form. He then came from nowhere to finish in a tie for 2nd at the Puerto Rico Open. But he again could not bring this form forward, missing 4 cuts in a row after the event. Jerry secured another 2nd place finish at the Memorial Tournament. Jerry is currently 50th on the 2008 money list with over $1.6million in prize money.

Jerry Kelly Tournament History

2008 Arnold Palmer Invitational

13-16 March - Arnold Palmer Invitational - Bay Hill Club and Lodge. In typical Tiger fashion, the world #1 sank a 24-foot putt on the 72nd hole at Bay Hill for his fifth consecutive win, much to the annoyance of Bart Bryant who was looking for his first win since 2005. This was his biggest challenge since this streak began 7 months ago, Woods outlasted 45-year-old Bart Bryant and won with a birdie putt on the 72nd hole for the first time in 7 years. He turned and slammed his cap to the ground, letting out a roar to celebrate his 64th career victory, tying Ben Hogan at #3 on the PGA Tour career list.

In Jerry Kelly's bag...An opening round of 78 set the tone for the week as Jerry went on to miss the cut by 8 shots. Jerry's driver was a Cleveland Hi Bore XLS Tour. He used the same model from Cleveland for his fairway and hybrid (#1). He used the Cleveland CG Red irons (3-9). He carried 3 specialist wedges, Cleveland 588 (47˚, 53˚ and 60˚).
