Scott Sterling
Residence: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
DOB: 02/02/1972
It was 13 years from when Scott turned pro to when he was a rookie on the PGA Tour. Years of golf on the Nationwide Tour had honed Scott’s skills to the point where he was chomping at the bit to get amongst the big boys. Jeff secured a single victory during his time on the Nationwide Tour - at the Jacob’s Creek Open Championship in 2007. This was his 122nd start on the Nationwide Tour.
His rookie season on the PGA Tour I’m sure did not go as Scott had been planning it for all those years. He was missing a lot of cuts and when he did make the cut his scoring was not good enough to secure prize money that would have helped him keep his status for the 2009 season. A pair of top-10’s during the final leg of the season helped elevate him to 145th place on the Money List to earn conditional status for the 2009 season.
Jeff is making much more of his PGA Tour starts this year. He is making more cuts that he is missing and has secured a couple of top-25 finishes. Jeff is also playing on the Nationwide Tour this year and finished inside the top-10 at the first time of asking.

2008 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic |
17-20 January - Bob Hope Chrysler Classic - Bermuda Dunes, Silver Rock, Nicklaus Private at PGA West, Palmer Private at PGA West and Palm Springs, California. 27-year-old Trahan, who had won just once before, charged from 4 shots back Sunday to overtake Justin Leonard and win the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. Trahan shot a sparkling 7-under 65 to beat Leonard by 3 strokes. The younger player said a 4-shot deficit looked imposing heading into the final round of the 5-day tournament but came through to prevail in the end. |
In Scott Sterling's bag...Despite a 67 in the third round, opening rounds of 72 and 74 were too far off the ace for Scott to make the cut this week. I can count 19 clubs in Scott’s bag in so I hope this photo was not taken during competition play. On the right we can see a pair of TaylorMade Burner TP fairway woods. Scott must have been deciding between the Adams Golf hybrid and TaylorMade Rescue TP. His irons were a combination of TaylorMade R7 TP’s and TaylorMade RAC CGB’s.
