Michael Lorenzo-Vera
Residence: Biarritz, France
DOB: 28/01/1985
After turning professional in 2005, Lorenzo-Vera played on the Alps Tour, one of Europe's third tier development tours. In 2006, he won the Open International de la Mirabelle D’or, a tournament he had also won the year before as an amateur, on his way to 4th on the Order of Merit. This gave him passage to the Challenge Tour for the 2007 season.
His rookie year on the Challenge Tour Michael became the first Frenchman to be crowned the Challenge Tour Number One. On his way to glory he won the 2007 Apulia San Domenico Grand Final to top the Rankings.
Now playing on the European Tour Michael came close to capturing his first title when he led the Volvo China Open for two rounds before finishing joint second. This was only his 11th event on the Tour.
This performance went a long way to securing his card for the 2009 season, particularly as he missed the tail end of the season after falling down some stairs and suffering a wrist injury.
In his first tournament back after a two-month lay-off and his first start of the 2009 season he again led at halfway before finishing tied 14th in the South African Open Championship. His season is really yet to get started with this tie for 14th being his best finish so far.

Michael Lorenzo-Vera Tournament History
2008 Irish Open |
24-27 January - Buick Invitational - Torrey Pines. Tiger Woods joined elite company on the final day of the Buick Invitational, even though he might as well have been playing alone. He thrilled the 4-deep gallery with an improbable flop shot from the trampled grass behind the 9th green to save par. He sent Torrey Pines into delirium with a 60-foot birdie putt that started in one direction and slid into the cup from the other. He made 3 straight bogeys on the back 9, a rarity for him when he's in the lead. And none of it mattered. The outcome was never in doubt at the Buick Invitational, only the final score. A 10-foot birdie on the 18th gave Woods a 1-under 71 and an 8-shot victory, the ninth time in his career that he has won by at least that many. |
In Michael Lorenzo-Vera's bag...Round of 75 and 76 over the weekend took the shine off what was shaping up to be a good week for the Frenchman. Opening rounds 68 and then a 70 saw him make the cut with some relative comfort. Here we have a great shot of Lorenzo’s golf clubs. We can see the branding on his driver headcover indicating that it is the Cleveland HiBore XL model and the XLS HiBore fairway wood. We can also see the wide sole of a hybrid present in the bag however due to the angle it is sitting we cannot decipher which one it is. Thanks to the zoom we can that he is carrying a set of Cleveland CG 1 irons.
