Chris Stroud
Residence: Nederland, Texas
DOB: 03/02/1982
Chris was born on February 3 1982 and attended Lamar University. During his time here he was a two-time all American. His only main stream win came at the 2003 North and South Amateur championship.
Christ turned professional in 2004. Until earning his card for the first time at the 2006 Q-School Chris played on the mini-tours in the US. His rookie season on the PGA Tour did not get off to the greatest start with him missing the cut in his first 5 events. Out of the blue he then tied for 5th in his next event. He recorded another top-10 later in the year but this was not enough to help him to retain his card for the follow season so it was back to Q-School.
2008 followed in the same vein as 2007. Missed cuts we occasionally split by a top-10 finish. But again this inconsistency was not good enough for him to retain his PGA Tour card and it was back to Q-School for a third successive year.
Success at Q-School again gave Chris his 3rd year on the PGA Tour. A top-10 at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am has set his season up to be the first time that he can retain his card on playing merit and save him a fourth consecutive trip to Q-School.

Chris Stroud Tournament History
2009 Arnold Palmer Invitational |
26-29 March 2009 - Bay Hill Country Club and Lodge - This week marked the return of the Tiger Woods we all know and love. After 9 months out of action after re-constructive knew surgery - a birdie putt at the 72nd hole saw Tiger win as Bay Hill for a sixth time. Those familiar back-nine heroics and a putt that everyone knew he was going to drain saw the world number 1 come from 5 strokes back on the final day - equalling his career best comeback. This remarkable comeback must have been great to watch apart from the eyes of Sean O’Hair who Woods beat into second place. |
In Chris Stroud's bag...Opening rounds of 74 and 75 were not god enough for Chris to make the cut this week. Not only is Chris getting around the manufacturers - inside Ping range he is getting around too. It is not unusually to see a pro using the same model for their driver, fairway, hybrid and irons. But here Chris is using a different model for every club type in his bag. His driver is a Ping Rapture V2. His fairway wood is a Ping G10 while his hybrid reverts back to the original rapture range from Ping. His irons are again from Ping but are the i3+ Blade model. Tucked under the iron that we can see is a Cleveland Tour Action 588 wedge. Finally his putter is a G5i Craz-E from Ping.
