Yong-Eun Yang
Residence: Seoul, Korea
DOB: 15/01/1972
After turning professional in 1996 it was not until a decade later that Yang finally made his breakthrough. In 2006 he won the Korea Open. This victory gained him entry into the HSBC Champions Tournament in November 2006. He won this tournament, beating a strong field including Tiger Woods.
This victory earned him membership of the European Tour and moved him into the top forty of the Official World Golf Rankings.
He followed this victory up with some more fine finished. He won just short of €1million and finished inside the top-30 on the European Tour Order of Merit.
In 2008 he played on the PGA Tour after earning his card through qualifying school. 2008 slipped by without major incident. However the 2009 season has started very well. He won his first event on the PGA Tour at the 2009 Honda Classic. With this win, Yang became only the second Korean to win on the PGA Tour along with K.J. Choi.

Yong-Eun Yang Tournament History
2009 World Golf Championship - CA Championship |
12-15 March 2009 - Doral Golf and Spa Resort - Phil Mickelson won his first World Golf Championships title on Sunday at the CA Championship, where he held off Nick Watney to take the title by one stroke and his 36th career victory. However this was perhaps not the most news worthy story of the week. During his opening round, Henrik Stenson thought it a good idea to play from out of the water! After stripping down to his boxer shorts the Swede preceded to do just this. And it was down to PGA Tour photographer Kyle Auclair to capture this magical moment. With the world’s best golf photographers trailing Tiger Woods, Kyle decided he was going to follow other players instead. Little did he know this particular sequence of images would be plastered on newspapers, websites and television shows all over the country the next day. |
In Yong-Eun Yang's bag...This was a disappointing finish to the week for Yang. A closing round of 78 took Yang to a final score of +6 and into 74th position at the close of play. Earlier rounds of 73, 70 and another 73 and Yang was on the way to a solid finish at the WGC CA Championship. We have a couple of cracking images of Y.E Yang here. One of him using his TaylorMade R7 Limited driver that he switched to from the new TaylorMade R9 earlier in the season. The other image is of him using his TaylorMade Rescue TP. Although we did not get an image of his bag we were able to trace his winning clubs from his Honda Classic win to this week. His irons were TaylorMade R7 TP’s and his fairways were the TaylorMade Burner Tour Launch model. He was also using an Odyssey White Hot 2-Ball putter.
