Mark Foster

Mark was a member of the victorious 1995 Walker Cup team at Royal Porthcawl alongside Stephen Gallacher, Padraig Harrington and David Howell. After a highly successful amateur career, which included back-to-back English Amateur Championships in 1994 and 1995, progress proved difficult. He gained his European Tour card in 1996 but played just eight European Tour events, after suffering a back injury. He underwent surgery in 1998 and got his career back on track in 1999, only to miss the cut at Qualifying School.
He bounced back in 2001 by topped the Challenge Tour Rankings after two wins then claimed his first European Tour title at the beginning of 2003, winning the dunhill championship in South Africa after a six-man play-off. Enjoyed his most productive season to date in 2007, finishing 52nd on the Order of Merit before comfortably cementing his place on Tour in 2008, his best performance coming at the BMW International Open where he finished third.

16-19 October - Portugal Masters - Oceânico Victoria Golf Course. Spain’s Alvaro Quiros was victorious at the Portugal Masters after holding off a determined challenge from Europe’s form player, Robert Karlsson. The 25 year old from Cadiz pocketed the €500,000 winner’s cheque - the largest of his career - after a final round 68 (a 19 under par total); he immediately dedicated his win to Seve Ballesteros, who was recovering in hospital from an operation to remove a brain tumour at the time. European Order of Merit leader Karlsson, who had begun the final round only a shot behind the Spaniard, had to settle for a share of third place after carding a 71. |
In Mark Foster's bag...An opening round of 66 could not give Mark the boost he needed for the rest or the tournament. Rounds of 71, 71 and 73 followed as the Englishman just held onto a top-25 place – his golf deserved better. Mark is a new addition to the Golfbidder archive in 2008. He appears to have a Taylor Made equipment deal but there is not much information in our sources to identify the club's he is using. We can see however that he is using a Taylor Made Burner Tour TP drive and a Taylor Made Burner Tour Launch fairway.
