Pelle Edberg
Residence:
DOB: 13/04/1979
Pelle was born quite literally on a golf course. The Edberg family hotel at Jönköping boasts two courses. Pelle dabbled with golf as a 3 year old toddler with his father, Stefan, and brother, Hans, who is also his coach and has been the biggest influence on his career to date. Pelle turned professional in 1997 and first entered the Qualifying School in 1998. However it was not until 2004 he achieved success for the first time.
Pelle was unable to retain his card the following year but came through the Qualifying School, Final Stage, once again in 2006 and fared much better. In a glorious mid-summer spell he achieved top-5 finishes in the Smurfit Kappa European Open and The Barclays Scottish Open before finishing joint 12th in his Open Championship debut.
Pelle is easily recognisable on the golf course for his headgear. He opts for headband rather than the traditional cap.
Pelle came closer than ever to that elusive maiden victory in 2008. An outstanding performance in the SAS Masters in his native Sweden saw him finish 2nd and secure his best finish on the European Tour. He added further top-10 finishes at the season opening Alfred Dunhill Championship and a 3rd in the Bank Austria Golf Open.

Pelle Edberg Tournament History
2008 Wales Open |
29 May - 1 June - The Welsh Open - Celtic Manor. Scott Strange completed an emphatic wire-to-wire victory at The Celtic Manor Wales Open with a sensational final round 64. Strange’s winning total of 262 was 22 under par and 4 shots better than the next best golfer, Robert Karlsson who was champion in 2006. The Australian becomes the third player to make The Celtic Manor Wales Open his maiden victory on The European Tour following in the footsteps of Steen Tinning (2000) and Simon Khan (2004). Karlsson did close to within a shot at one time with a spectacular run of 6 successive birdies around the turn. Strange was ignoring the leader boards dotted around the Twenty Ten course and seemed oblivious to the cheers ringing out from the group in front as he promptly pulled away. |
In Pelle Edberg's bag...Opening rounds of 73 and 70 were not good enough to make the cut. Pelle carried a Callaway FT-5 drives and complimented this with a Callaway X fairway wood. His irons were Callaway X-Forged and are completed by Titleist Vokey Spin Milled wedges (52˚, 56˚ and 60˚).
