2008 Wales Open

29 May - 1 June - The Welsh Open - Celtic Manor. Scott Strange completed an emphatic wire-to-wire victory at The Celtic Manor Wales Open with a sensational final round 64. Strange’s winning total of 262 was 22 under par and 4 shots better than the next best golfer, Robert Karlsson who was champion in 2006. The Australian becomes the third player to make The Celtic Manor Wales Open his maiden victory on The European Tour following in the footsteps of Steen Tinning (2000) and Simon Khan (2004). Karlsson did close to within a shot at one time with a spectacular run of 6 successive birdies around the turn. Strange was ignoring the leader boards dotted around the Twenty Ten course and seemed oblivious to the cheers ringing out from the group in front as he promptly pulled away.

In Magnus Carlsson's bag...A final round of 65 saw Magnus jump 25 places into a tie for 21st. The week also started well with a 66 in the opening round putting him in contention.
