Bart Bryant – here at Golfbidder, we love yer! Why? Because he gives us old guys hope – in fact he gives anyone hope who has struggled to make a breakthrough in any career – and is a lesson in why never to give up. Poor old Bart had been struggling on tour for almost 20 years, missing cuts and regularly having to return to the Tour Qualifying School to win back his right to miss more cuts. But his perseverance finally paid off when, at the age of 41, he won the Valero Texas Open. Suddenly, everything clicked into place and, incredibly, the following year in 2005 he added the Memorial Tournament and the season-ending Tour Championship - ending up 9th on the US Tour Money list with over $3m in the bank. This was more than he had earned in the previous 18 years! Hats off to you Bart. Our photo of Bart Bryant shows him using his Taylor Made r7 SuperQuad at the PODS Championship at Innisbrook, Palm Harbour, Florida in March 2007 where he finished a creditable 12th – and added another $112,000 to his coffers. 2008 was another great year for the veteran Texan. A second place finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational was followed just 3 weeks later by a third place at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship. Despite only finishing inside the top-10 on these 2 occasions during 2008 Bart still managed to finish the season inside the top-50 on the PGA Tour Money List. HE finished in 46th place with over $1.7million in prize money.

2007 Arnold Palmer Invitational

15-18 March - Arnold Palmer Invitational - Bay Hill Clubs and Lodge. After three runners-up spots at Bay Hill, Vijay Singh finally put the doubts to rest by banking the $990,000 first prize – and logging the 31st win of his career – in doing so equalling Harry Copper’s record for the most number of PGA Tour victories by a foreign-born player. For those amongst us of a certain age, we can take comfort from the fact that Vijay has won an astonishing 19 of those victories since turning 40. There is hope for us yet!

In Bart Bryant's bag...Bart uses a TaylorMade r7 SuperQuad driver - but his irons of choice are the old Cleveland TA7s - and not even the Tour version.
