During his amateur career Martin played for Sweden in the 1996 Eisenhower Trophy, finishing 2nd in a team containing fellow Tour players, Christopher Hanell and Lief Westerberg. Martin first secured his place on The European Tour through the 2003 Challenge Tour where he recorded 9 top-10 finishes over the course of the season, including his maiden Challenge Tour win at the Izki Challenge de España. He finished 6th on the end of year Rankings. Martin missed out on retaining his card by three places in 2004, finishing 119th on the Order of Merit. He went back to Q School and emerged with the 35th card. His 2006 season mirrored that of the previous year when a golden spell in late summer that yielded 2 top-10 finishes that transformed his campaign. These results ensured the Swede retained his playing privileges in 94th place on the Order of Merit. It was not until his eighth start of the season that he survived the cut for the first time in 2007. Thereafter he was a model of consistency as he finished 77th on the Order of Merit. Martin is truly a man for the summer season. He repeated his excellent summer form of 2006 and 2007 in 2008 year with 3 top-ten finishes in the space of 7 weeks ensured another comfortable year. His best finish of the year was a tie for 3rd at the Bank Austria Golf Open. A final round 65 saw him cut through the field and secure his second top-10 of the year.

2008 BMW PGA Championship

22-25 May - BMW PGA Championship - Wentworth Club. Miguel Angel Jiménez completed the BMW treble when he won the BMW PGA Championship with a birdie on the second hole of a play-off to deny England’s Oliver Wilson his maiden European Tour title. Jiménez, who won both the 2004 BMW Asian Open and the 2004 BMW International Open, became the first player to claim the BMW ‘grand slam’ when he tapped in for a winning birdie after tying Wilson with a final round of four under par 68to finish on -11 after 72 holes.

In Martin Erlandsson's bag...An opening 76 set the tone as Martin proceeded to miss the cut by 3 strokes. Martin carried a Titleist 907 D2 driver and a Titleist 906F fairway wood. His irons were also from Titleist and were their AP2 model. His wedges were also from Titleist and were Vokey 200 Series (54˚)
