Francois Delamontagne
Residence: Paris, France
DOB: 25/03/1979
Francois started playing golf in his native Brittany at the age of 12, after watching The Open Championship on television. His father and mother both play and his father, Patrick, once played for the French national football team.
Enjoyed his best year as a professional in 2005, finishing 68th on the European Tour Order of Merit, helped by a good spell mid-season where he finished eighth in the Irish Open and tied fourth in his native Open de France, equalling his best European Tour performance.
A poor 2008 however forced Francois back to the second tier Challenge Tour after a 200th place finish on the Order of Merit. He finished 19th on the 2007 Challenge Tour and returned in 2008 where he finished just inside the magical top-125 (118th) to retain his card for 2009. His best finish so far in 2009 came at the Estoril Open de Portugal in April where he finished in a tied for 12th place.

Francois Delamontagne Tournament History
2008 Irish Open |
24-27 January - Buick Invitational - Torrey Pines. Tiger Woods joined elite company on the final day of the Buick Invitational, even though he might as well have been playing alone. He thrilled the 4-deep gallery with an improbable flop shot from the trampled grass behind the 9th green to save par. He sent Torrey Pines into delirium with a 60-foot birdie putt that started in one direction and slid into the cup from the other. He made 3 straight bogeys on the back 9, a rarity for him when he's in the lead. And none of it mattered. The outcome was never in doubt at the Buick Invitational, only the final score. A 10-foot birdie on the 18th gave Woods a 1-under 71 and an 8-shot victory, the ninth time in his career that he has won by at least that many. |
In Francois Delamontagne's bag...Francois went into the final round this week at +1 after scores of 73 and a pair of 72’s in the opening 3 rounds. His final round of 76 saw him fall down the leader board into a tie for 48th come the close of play. It very rare to see Ben Hogan irons still being played on tour - but as they are owned by Callaway Golf, not so unsurprising to see them with a host of other Callaway clubs in Francois’ bag. Along with the Ben Hogan irons were a Callaway FT-5 driver and a Callaway FT-I Squareway Fairway wood. We can clearly see the 2 different finishes on his wedges too - one Callaway X Tour wedge with the vintage finish and an X Forged Wedge with the chrome finish.
