David Duval

Residence: Denver, Colorado
DOB: 11/09/1971
David Duval was born in Florida and is part of a strong golfing family. He joined the tour in 1995 and got off to a flying start with several top 5 finishes in his first two seasons. His first victory came 1997 when he won the Michelob Championship at Kingsmill – and between then and 2001 he won an astonishing 13 PGA tournaments including the prestigious Players Championship in 1999. In April 1999 he was ranked the No 1 golfer in the world. In 2000 he won the World Cup partnering Tiger Woods. He has twice been runner-up in the Masters at Augusta National – 1998 and 2001. Career highlights include winning the 1999 Bob Hope Classic where he made history twice on the same day – firstly by becoming the first golfer in history to win on the same day as his father, Bob Duval who won the Emerald Coast Classic on the Seniors tour on the same Sunday – and also because he posted a final round 59 – the only golfer ever to have shot sub-60 during a final round. David’s career highlight, however, must be his, to date, only Major when he won the 2001 Open Championship at Royal Lytham & St Anne’s. Sadly, since then, Duval has struggled to reach anything like his previous form – partly because of injury.
