Graeme Storm
Residence: 0Hartlepool, UK
DOB: 13/03/1978
Graeme learnt his trade at Hartlepool Golf Club, and still holds the course record of 62. From playing for the English Boys team, to securing an invitation to play in the European Team for the prestigious Royal Trophy, he is without a doubt one of the best golfers in the UK and Europe.
An impressive amateur record saw him play in the victorious Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup side of 1999. He also won the Amateur Championship in the same year. He played in the 2000 Masters Tournament as a result of that victory. He made history at Augusta National when he became the first player to have his mum caddie for him.
Graeme turned professional in 2000 but struggled to establish himself on The European Tour in his early years as a professional. He had to work in a cake factory in his native Hartlepool over the winter months to finance his golf. Things changed in 2004 when he picked up two wins at Challenge Tour level in 2004. In 2005 he made a major advance by finishing 31st on the European Tour Order of Merit, an improvement of 90 places on his previous best. Graeme finally made himself a serious name on the European Tour thanks to a brilliant season in 2007. He not only won his maiden title at the Open de France ALSTOM, but also notched a dozen other top-20 finishes.
Graeme had a poor start to the 2008 season. He missed the cut in each of his first 3 events. He finally found some form at the Johnnie Walker Classic. He finished in a tie for 5th to secure his first top-10 of the year. Graeme must like whiskey as his best finish of the year came at the Johnnie Walker Championship. Here he finished alone in 2nd behind eventual winner Gregory Havret.

Graeme Storm Tournament History
2008 The Open Championship |
17-20 July - The Open Championship - Royal Birkdale. The 137th Open Championship was successfully defended by Padraig Harrington. He shot -4 on the back 9 on the Sunday to pull away from Ian Poulter and overnight leader Greg Norman. The Open this year was without one notable absentee as World #1 Tiger Woods was recovering from knee surgery. Greg Norman became the oldest golfer ever to hold at least a share of the 54-hole lead when he led by 2 strokes on +2. Due to extremely high winds, no one managed to play under par for the round, and it was first time since 1986 when the 54-hole leader was not under par. Despite a wrist injury that almost forced him to withdraw prior to the tournament Harrington pulled away from the field with a tremendous back 9 and became only the fifth golfer to retain the Open Championship in the last 50 years. |
In Graeme Storm's bag...Graeme was in real contention for his first major crown after 3 rounds. However a final round 79 saw him plummet 30 places into a tie for 39th place. Graeme plays an almost full set of Taylor Made clubs. At The Open he played a Taylor Made Burner TP driver (9.5˚). His fairway was also a Taylor Made Burner TP (14.5˚). His irons were Taylor Made rac Forged (3-P) and he completed these with a Taylor Made rac FE203 wedge.

2008 World Golf Championship - CA Championship |
13-16 March - Arnold Palmer Invitational - Bay Hill Club and Lodge. In typical Tiger fashion, the world #1 sank a 24-foot putt on the 72nd hole at Bay Hill for his fifth consecutive win, much to the annoyance of Bart Bryant who was looking for his first win since 2005. This was his biggest challenge since this streak began 7 months ago, Woods outlasted 45-year-old Bart Bryant and won with a birdie putt on the 72nd hole for the first time in 7 years. He turned and slammed his cap to the ground, letting out a roar to celebrate his 64th career victory, tying Ben Hogan at #3 on the PGA Tour career list. |
In Graeme Storm's bag...Opening rounds of 70 and 71 saw Graeme head into the weekend looking to build on this and achieve a solid top-30 finish. However a stunning 63 in the third round change his view on the final round dramatically. It had gone from a solid performance to being in with a change of winning his first World Golf Championship event. Graeme could not repeat his third round heroics in the final round and a 71 saw him finish up in a tie for 6th place. Having not been able to see his TaylorMade Burner TP in all its glory in previous shots we thought it was worth posting it here. For the rest of the bag we can only assume that his set remained consistent though the 2008 season.
