Geoff Ogilvy
Residence: Scottsdale, Arizona
DOB: 11/06/1977
Geoff was introduced to golf by his dad at age 7 when he was handed a cut-down club and advanced to a scratch handicap by age 16. However, golf was not the only sport at which he excelled. Geoff was a talented junior athlete in many sports, winning numerous athletics medals at state and national level.
Ogilvy is a co-founder and owner of MOJO Pies, "The Original Australian Pie" located in Scottsdale, Arizona. MOJO Pies came to the US to offer the biggest and best tasting Aussie Pies in America. Using recipes perfected in Australia over 25 years ago, MOJO Pies was established with one goal in mind, to introduce Americans to the famous Australian Icon, ‘The Aussie Pie’.
He turned professional in May 1998 and earned a European Tour card at that year's Qualifying School. He played on the European Tour in 1999 and 2000, finishing 65th in his first season and improving to 48th in his second. He moved to the PGA Tour in 2001, and finished in the top-100 in each of his first 5 seasons.
His first professional tournament win came in 2005 at the PGA Tour's Chrysler Classic of Tucson. To date he has only own 4 PGA Tour titles but they have been quiet spectacular when he has. Of the 4 tournaments he has won he has 1 Major and 2 WGC titles. The first of his WGC crowns came at the 2006 WGC - World Accenture Matchplay Championship where he beat Davis Love III in the final.
He won his first Major Championship at the 2006 US Open, after American Phil Mickelson gave up a 2 shot lead with 3 holes to play, becoming the first Australian to win a men's golf major since Steve Elkington at the 1995 PGA Championship. Ogilvy finished his final round with a champion's flourish, making unbelievable pars on each of the 71st and 72nd holes. He holed a 30-foot chip shot at the 71st, and then got up-and-down for par at the 72nd, dropping a downhill six-footer for his final stroke while all his competitors collapsed around him.
Ogilvy won the second of his WGC titles at the 2008 WGC-CA Championship. He won the title by 1 shot from Retief Goosen, Vijay Singh and Jim Furyk by finishing on 17-under par. In his next start on the PGA Tour at the Shell Houston Open he finished tied for 2nd moving him up to 5th in the Official World Golf Rankings and by June he had moved up to a career high 3rd place.

2009 World Golf Championship - CA Championship |
12-15 March 2009 - Doral Golf and Spa Resort - Phil Mickelson won his first World Golf Championships title on Sunday at the CA Championship, where he held off Nick Watney to take the title by one stroke and his 36th career victory. However this was perhaps not the most news worthy story of the week. During his opening round, Henrik Stenson thought it a good idea to play from out of the water! After stripping down to his boxer shorts the Swede preceded to do just this. And it was down to PGA Tour photographer Kyle Auclair to capture this magical moment. With the world’s best golf photographers trailing Tiger Woods, Kyle decided he was going to follow other players instead. Little did he know this particular sequence of images would be plastered on newspapers, websites and television shows all over the country the next day. |
In Geoff Ogilvy's bag...An opening round of 73 left the Accenture World Match Play Champion well off the pace early on. He followed this with rounds of 69 and 70 to get the happy side of par going into the final round. However he could not find the extra gear need to take advantage of the better course condition and post a clubhouse lead. He instead closed with a level par 72 and had to settle for a share of 40th place. Identifying Geoff’s clubs this week was not an easy job. We can see from the logo on his bag that Geoff was using the new Cobra S9-1 driver. This was backed up by the Cobra website which also told us that he was the Cobra S9-1 fairways too. His irons are a combination of the Cobra Pro MB and Pro CB irons. He is choosing not to carry Cobra wedges - instead using Titleist 200 Series and Spin Milled models.

2008 World Golf Championship - CA Championship |
13-16 March - Arnold Palmer Invitational - Bay Hill Club and Lodge. In typical Tiger fashion, the world #1 sank a 24-foot putt on the 72nd hole at Bay Hill for his fifth consecutive win, much to the annoyance of Bart Bryant who was looking for his first win since 2005. This was his biggest challenge since this streak began 7 months ago, Woods outlasted 45-year-old Bart Bryant and won with a birdie putt on the 72nd hole for the first time in 7 years. He turned and slammed his cap to the ground, letting out a roar to celebrate his 64th career victory, tying Ben Hogan at #3 on the PGA Tour career list. |
In Geoff Ogilvy's bag...In Geoffs bag at the WGA CA, we can clearly see his Cobra MB forged irons and Speed Pro driver and fairway woods. His initials can be seen stamped on the back of his Titleist Vokey wedges.
