Soren Hansen
Residence: Monte Carlo, Monaco
DOB: 21/03/1974
Not to be confused with his good friend and fellow Dane, Anders Hansen (although the parallels that can be drawn are remarkable), Soren Hansen won the 1997 Danish Amateur Stroke Play Championship and turned professional later that year. Hansen collected his first professional win at the Challenge Tour's 1998 Navision Open Golf Championship in his home country. He joined the European Tour in 1999 and has twice finished in the top 20 in the European Order of Merit (2002 and 2005) and has 2 victories.
His first European Tour victory came at the Murphy’s Irish Open in 2002 where he triumphed at the 4th extra hole in a playoff against Richard Bland, Nicolas Fasth and Darren Fichardt. His second victory came at the prestigious Mercedes Benz Championship where an open round of 65 paved the way for a wire-to-wire victory and his highest European Tour Order of Merit finish of 8th. In September 2007, he reached the top 50 of the Official World Golf Rankings and became the top-ranked Danish golfer, for whom he has represented at the World Cup from 1998 to 2007.
In 2002 he admitted he was inspired to succeed by his good friend and name sake’s, Anders Hansen, maiden victory in the PGA Championship at Wentworth Club when he secured his first European Tour title, the 2002 Irish Open at Fota Island.
Soren finished the 2008 European Tour season in 13th place on the Order of Merit. His best result came at the Spanish Open and French Open where he finished alone in 3rd place on each occasion. The highlight of the year came at the close when he secures a series of 5 consecutive top-10 finishes finishing a total of -40 for the run.

Soren Hansen Tournament History
2008 Portugal Masters |
16-19 October - Portugal Masters - Oceânico Victoria Golf Course. Spain’s Alvaro Quiros was victorious at the Portugal Masters after holding off a determined challenge from Europe’s form player, Robert Karlsson. The 25 year old from Cadiz pocketed the €500,000 winner’s cheque - the largest of his career - after a final round 68 (a 19 under par total); he immediately dedicated his win to Seve Ballesteros, who was recovering in hospital from an operation to remove a brain tumour at the time. European Order of Merit leader Karlsson, who had begun the final round only a shot behind the Spaniard, had to settle for a share of third place after carding a 71. |
In Soren Hansen's bag...A pair of 65’s over the middle two rounds weren’t sadly topped and tailed with similar. Opening and closing rounds over par saw the Dane finish in a tie for 7th place. A tough on this but ew've had a good attempt. His driver was the new Titleist 909 D2. His fairway woods were Titleist 909F2's and were accompanied by a Titleist 909 H hybrid. His irons were Titleist Forged 670's and like many of his fello professionals, he was using Titleist 200 Series wedges and a Scotty Cameron Newport putter.

2008 Arnold Palmer Invitational |
13-16 March - Arnold Palmer Invitational - Bay Hill Club and Lodge. In typical Tiger fashion, the world #1 sank a 24-foot putt on the 72nd hole at Bay Hill for his fifth consecutive win, much to the annoyance of Bart Bryant who was looking for his first win since 2005. This was his biggest challenge since this streak began 7 months ago, Woods outlasted 45-year-old Bart Bryant and won with a birdie putt on the 72nd hole for the first time in 7 years. He turned and slammed his cap to the ground, letting out a roar to celebrate his 64th career victory, tying Ben Hogan at #3 on the PGA Tour career list. |
In Soren Hansen's bag...Opening rounds of 71 and 75 were not good enough for Soren to make the cut, which he missed by 4 strokes. From the picture we can clearly see that this week Soren was using a Titleist 907 Driver. Our sources at the tournament and here in the office tell us that is was the D2 model. His fairway wood was a Titleist PT 906F4. Although you can’t see that back of the irons (usually how they are identified) we are reliably informed that they are Titleist Forged 670’s.

2007 BMW PGA Championship |
24-27 May - BMW PGA Championship - West Course at Wentworth. The BMW PGA Championship was played out on a rain-lashed West Course at Wentworth in Surrey. Traditionally, the PGA attracts one of the strongest fields on the European Tour and this time was no exception with Vijay Singh, Ernie Els, Michael Campbell and others all making the trip across the pond. It was not, however, one of the better known superstars who walked off with the trophy and 725,000 Euro first prize, but Anders Hansen from Denmark who holed a 25 foot birdie putt on the first sudden-death play-off hole against England’s Justin Rose. This was only Hansen’s second victory on Tour – bizarrely the only other win was the same tournament – then called the Volvo PGA – five years earlier in 2002. |
In Soren Hansen's bag...In Soren's bag at the BMW - Titleist 670 irons, the new Titleist 907 D2 driver, Titleist 906 F2 fairway wood, and also a 19 degree older model 904 fairway wood.
