Pat Perez
Residence: Scotsdale, Arizona
DOB: 01/03/1976
Pat was born in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1993 Pat won the Junior World title at Torrey Pines, where Tiger Woods finished fourth, eight strokes back. He attended Arizona State University and was a member of their 1996 NCAA National Championship Team finally turning professional in 1997.
He picked up his first victory as a professional at the 2000 Ozarks Open where he defeated Pat Bates and Mike Heinen in a playoff with birdie on the first extra hole. This victory was worth $76,500, his largest career payday.
2008 was his best year on tour after securing his card for the first time in 2001 by finishing as medallist at 2001 PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament. He recorded career highs in money won, cuts made, and top-25 finishes in 2008.
Pat was still yet to secure his first Tour win through 2008 coming close on 2 occasions. It was only back-nine collapse at Pebble Beach that led him to break a club over his leg and deny him his first Tour win.
In 2009 Pat secured his first PGA Tour victory at the Bob Hope Classic. He finished the first 36 holes with a 124 (-20), the lowest score in PGA Tour history through two rounds, relative to par. This start set or tied several records, including the record for low score (124) in consecutive rounds. However this did not last long as over the third and fourth rounds, Steve Stricker broke the record with a 61-62 for 123 combined two rounds. However this did not matter to Perez as he went on to secure victory after his second shot on the par 5 18th hole from 200 yards went to within 3 feet for a closing eagle and his first tour win.

2009 Arnold Palmer Invitational |
26-29 March 2009 - Bay Hill Country Club and Lodge - This week marked the return of the Tiger Woods we all know and love. After 9 months out of action after re-constructive knew surgery - a birdie putt at the 72nd hole saw Tiger win as Bay Hill for a sixth time. Those familiar back-nine heroics and a putt that everyone knew he was going to drain saw the world number 1 come from 5 strokes back on the final day - equalling his career best comeback. This remarkable comeback must have been great to watch apart from the eyes of Sean O’Hair who Woods beat into second place. |
In Pat Perez's bag...While other players fluctuated either side of par at the 2009 Arnold Palmer Invitational Pat Perez was a model of consistency. Identical rounds of 70 (level par) over the first 3 days saw Pat enter the final round with a great chance. He closed with a 69 (-1) and finished the week tied for 8th position and a handsome cheque. This is a top photo from our photographer! We can clearly see the mixture of brands that feature in the bag of Pat Perez. Underneath his own websites headcover is a TaylorMade R9. His fairway and Rescue (under the boxing glove) are also from TaylorMade and are Burner TP and Rescue TP respectively. His irons have been given the personal touch from TaylorMade with P. Perez stamped on the back. The irons are TaylorMade RAC MB TP’s. His wedges we can see are from the Titleist Vokey 200 Series and his putter is an Odyssey White Hot XG #7.
