Ping i3 Blade Wedge

PIng i3 Blade. Available in both Blade and O-Size models, the Ping i3 Series feature several innovations that appeal to players of all levels. Common to both are: The Custom Tuning Port (CTP), whose walls control clubface vibration to improved feel and feedback. The Notched Hosel, which is not visible at address, enables Ping to control the connection of the hosel to the clubhead. The result is an optically pleasing, smooth transition between the hosel and clubhead that can be precisely calibrated for loft and lie. The Flat Top Hosel increases the cross-sectional area of the shaft that is in contact with the hosel where the shaft enters the clubhead. This design reduces shaft stress for improved feel. What differentiates the two models is the size of the clubhead, the offset and the bounce. This Blade model is designed for players who prefer a smaller head with less offset and bounce, which gives them the ability to shape and control their shots.

Whilst I am a high handicapper, I have played with a few models of club in my time but these are by far and away the nicest clubs that I have ever held and used. One gets a sublim feeling of confidence at address, with the slim(er) top line as pleaseing to the eye as the feel of the swing. On the (not so) rare occassions of a fat shot, the club is also weightly and well balanced enough to slip through the turf and still produce a reasonable shot in terms of both length and direction. Speaking of direction, try as I might, the club head stays true to alighnment and produces the cleanest, straightes shots I have experiences. In general, a club both pleasing to the eye, the hands and the scorecard!
