After 4 years without hitting a single ball, I started playing again a few days ago. It soon became obvious that my 28-year old Hogan Apex 2 blades were suffering from extreme fatigue (though it may well have been me suffering!), so after checking things out on Golfbidder I plumped for the X-14 Pro's as a stopgap until funds allowed a set of X-Prototypes.....however, after 2 hours on the range, and 18 holes yesterday, I don't think that the X-14 Pro's will be leaving my bag for some time! They have an incredibly soft feel for a cast club, and the Rifle shafts give a more penetrating ball flight than I was expecting from a cavity-back, which is perfect....the standard shot for me is a soft draw, though it's just as easy to hit a fade too.....also, the spin generated from the short irons is fantastic!! These irons have become a minor classic over the years, now I can easily see why, and I'm sure that any standard of golfer would be extremely happy with the X-14 Pro's, especially with Golfbidder's great service!

The performance and look of these clubs are top draw. Having tested X18 and X20 and tour versions in no doubt have the better clubs.
A Callaway classic!!!

Absolutely agree with Dave in the above review. The heads are very forgiving and will contribute to a lazy strike. I found that when I tried to hit a Mizuno bladed 7-iron, I couldn't hit the the thing! They are good irons, very solid and the typical Callaway top line inspires confidence. They have minimal off-set which is great for shaping shots (or attempting to anyway!) My final mis-giving is that they have a wide sole which makes it hard to hit delicate knock-downs, they only seem to want to hit full shots. My last handicap of 18 was 5 years ago, I've since joined a club again and will look to buy something which is more playable like a set of Titleists. The X-14's are in my opinion, a typical Callaway product. Great as a game improver iron, not so great for those looking for more workability and control. Final note, the shaft is an absolutely key component, the regular rifle shaft is plenty strong, so it is vital that you get the shaft right, it is often regarded as the engine of the club. The difference between a correct shaft and incorrect one could be as much as 25-30 yards. Accuracy of course is effected too. Too stiff and you'll hit low and left, too weak and you will be all over the place. Always seek professional advice before taking advantage of Golfbidder!!!

Owned a set of X14 Pro series for 1 year. Great club. Looks good at address, not as large a topline as what you would might expect from callaway. I experienced a nice low penetrating ball flight. Great forgiveness.
On the downside I found that they lack any sort of feel especially with the 8-Wedge. I also found that the forgiveness was making me lazy. This was ok at the start but I found that over time my swing was in trouble.
