Callaway HawkEye VFT Irons

Callaway Hawkeye VFT. Callaway Hawkeye VFT (Variable Face Thickness) irons were the top of the range Callaway product when they were launched. A unique titanium casting process creates an internal weight pocket inside each Hawk Eye VFT iron. This pocket is then filled with the tungsten weight matrix, a dense mix of tungsten spheres and molten metal that accounts for an average of 48% of the clubhead weight and only 30% of the clubhead volume. This creates enormous stability and makes them one of the easiest clubs to hit. The low centre of gravity in the Callaway Hawk Eye VFT irons also helps launch shots higher without losing any distance. Callaway's current equivalent model - the Fusions - use the same titanium/tungsten principle to achieve usability.

The time came for me to change my irons. I had played Callaway X12s for 9 years and they had served me well. I went to a local retailer amd tried, on their range, Callaway X20s and Ping G5s and had virtually decided on the Callaways when I saw on their Second Hand Rack a set of Callaway VFTs. I tried them and found that they suited me better than the X20s - only trouble was that they were in very poor condition - very tashy and with a variety of grips etc. I looked on Golfbidder and saw a set of VFTs rated 999 for heads grips and shafts and priced at £391 and decided to take the plunge. I ordered them on Saturday evening, and even with a Bank Holiday Monday intervening, they arrived in Aberdeenshire on Wednesday morning. The Golfbidder 999 rating described them as shop soiled - virtually new - and they were exactly as described. The playabilty of the irons is First Class as is the service from Golfbidder. After my great experience with the irons, I am now keeping an eye on Golfbidder's Website for Callaway Steelhead 5 & 7 woods to go with the 3 wood I already use - and do you know - I reckon I'll get them!!

I bought these Callaway VFT's because at the price offered they were too good to miss, When they came out in 2002 they were £1250 a set and said to be Callaways finest creation. I could not and would not pay that ,but a friend did and i aways wanted them from the moment he let me try them . They are still the best,so easy to hit and feel great, smooth and very long compared to other irons. Club makers seemingly have to issue new models every six months with ever increasingly unlikely new technology. i doubt whether anybody really believes in the laughable claims made in their adverts and Westwood ,still using the same Pings for many years may be proof of this. You have to put a good swing on it. If you do,these will reward as much if not more than most, and even if you dont there is still something there for you. What a pity they are only availably now though golfbidder in decreasing numbers.

My wife purchased these irons through Golfbidder as a Xmas present to replace my Ping ISK's .These clubs perform really well, having changed from a light shaft to a regular shaft. They hit a higher ball , are half a club longer and very straight,I'm delighted.
