Cleveland CG Red irons. New for 2007, the Cleveland CG Red irons have a classic player profile that appeals to the accomplished golfer. Incorporating new Gelback™ Technology and next generation Micro-Cavity® Technology (MCT), workability, responsiveness and feel are at the forefront of this club design. Gelback, Cleveland Golf's lightweight, visco-elastic, vibration-damping material, is placed directly behind the hitting area of the clubface in the back cavity. Gelback is vibration-tuned to remove unwanted vibration on mis-hits while still allowing the player necessary feedback from the clubhead for a soft yet responsive feel. The Red GelBack insert is slightly more firm than the Gold for the more accomplished golfer who wants soft feel, yet requires more responsiveness on off-centre hits. Less offset and a thin top-line create a pleasing look from address, and allow for more shot-shaping capability. The GelBack removes unwanted vibration, yet provides the player with necessary feedback for a soft and responsive feel. Next-generation MCT (Micro-Cavity Technology) removes weight from the top line and positions it in the extreme perimeter for more forgiveness. Next generation Micro-Cavity Technology (MCT) provides better stability and more forgiveness by removing weight from the topline and redistributing it to the extreme perimeters of the clubhead. By redistributing 10 grams low and deep, the centre of gravity is improved by 15%, adding stability to off-centre hits. This translates into a larger sweet spot for more consistent and accurate shots.
