Brittany Lincicome finished with an eagle to win her first Major title in dramatic fashion at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
The 23-year-old American led after Thursday''s opening round at Mission Hills in California, but was trailing her playing partners Kristy McPherson and Christie Kerr by a single stroke during the latter stages on Sunday.
However, a brilliant shot to within four feet at the final hole set up an eagle three that gave Lincicome a final-round 69 and an overall nine-under-par 279, while Kerr and McPherson finished on eight under.
A delighted Lincicome later described her approach to the 18th green as "absolutely the best shot of my life".
"Huge shot on 18. Right when I hit it, it came off on the clubface exactly where we wanted to hit it and took the slope like I wanted it to and came really close, thank God," she said.
Mexico''s Lorena Ochoa, the defending champion, also carded an eagle at the 18th to close with a 69, but finished eight strokes behind the winner.
