Woods hopes to reschedule Chevron Challenge

Tournament host Tiger Woods is planning to move the Chevron World Challenge forward in the schedule for 2009.

According to the Associated Press, members of the Woods camp feel that this year''s event, held at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks from December 18th to 21st, took place too close to the Christmas break.

It was also scheduled at the same time as tournaments in South Africa and Australia, meaning several big-name players were unable to make the trip to California.

Speaking about the possibility of a new date for the tournament, Woods told the news agency: "The first week in December would be great.

"The date after the Skins Game would be the ideal date."

Although billed as an elite field, only two of the world''s top ten players - Cleveland golfer Vijay Singh and Cobra''s Camilo Villegas - took part in the Chevron World Challenge this year.

Singh finished one stroke ahead of Steve Stricker to win the title.
