Ping golfer Lee Westwood is hoping to finish a year of near misses with victory at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa this week.
The 35-year-old, who has been runner-up in four tournaments this season, narrowly lost out to Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano in a playoff at the British Masters in September.
Westwood admitted that coming so close to victory has been a cause of frustration, but said he is determined to finish his season on a high.
"It''s been a year of nearly and it was nearly again in the Volvo Masters at Valderrama," Westwood told the Nottingham Evening Post.
The Worksop-born player finished in a tie for fourth at the Volvo Masters last month, but his consistency has seen him move up to number ten in the world rankings and finish third in the European Tour Order of Merit.
"I''ve played well all year and I''m pleased about being back in the top ten," he said.
Westwood has been paired with Henrik Stenson for the first round of the Nedbank Golf Challenge, which begins at Sun City on Thursday (December 4th).
