Choi triumphs at Skins Game

Nike golfer KJ Choi won the annual LG Skins Game at Indian Wells on Sunday (November 30th).

The South Korean follows in the footsteps of players such as Stephen Ames, Colin Montgomerie and Tom Lehman by winning the event in his first appearance.

Choi, who is also the first Korean player to triumph at the Skins Game, took home $415,000 (£278,133) after sinking an 11-foot putt for birdie at the 18th hole of the California course.

"I''m very proud to have won the Skins Game, the first time ever for a Korean player. I''m very, very happy today," the 38-year-old said afterwards.

For the first time since 2002, all four players managed to win a skin at the event, with Ames pocketing $250,000, Phil Mickelson earning $195,000 and Rocco Mediate leaving with $140,000.

Ames, who won the Skins Game in 2006 and 2007, missed a chance to halve the final hole and force a playoff when his putt from nine feet strayed to the right.
