Rod Pampling has won the Australian Masters after defeating Marcus Fraser in a playoff at Huntingdale.
The two Australian players finished 12 under par at the event in Melbourne yesterday (November 30th), with Pampling finally getting the better of his compatriot at the third hole of a sudden death playoff.
Robert Allenby held the overnight lead but saw his chances of a third Australian Masters title evaporate when he got stuck in a greenside bunker and carded a double bogey at the 15th hole.
He evenutally took third place on nine under par, while South Africa''s Tim Clark, Swedish player Alexander Noren and Australian Nathan Green were tied for fourth on eight under.
Steve Webster was the best placed British player in Melbourne, finishing seven shots adrift on five under par.
The victory represents Pampling''s first title since the 2006 Bay Hill Invitational. He tied for 14th at the US Open in June this year.
