Langer comments on Ryder Cup rumours

Bernhard Langer has said he will only consider captaining Europe in the Ryder Cup again if he is formally approached.

The 51-year-old German, who led Europe to victory at Oakland Hills in 2004, is one of several names being mentioned in connection with the skipper''s role at Celtic Manor 2010.

However, Langer told reporters in Hong Kong this week that he will not think about the captaincy unless officially asked by the Ryder Cup committee.

"It''s the committee that decides who should be captain and that''s the right way to do it," the two-time Masters champion said.

However, Langer did admit that there were "a couple of things" he would have done differently to Nick Faldo if in charge of the European side at Valhalla in September.

"We''re different people, we''ve got a different style of leadership," he commented.

Faldo was criticised for his tactical choices after the defeat in Kentucky, but has also not ruled himself out of the running for the 2010 captaincy.

Other names in the frame include Jose Maria Olazabal, Sandy Lyle and Ian Woosnam.
