Seve Ballesteros has been moved out of the intensive care unit at La Paz Hospital as his recovery from brain surgery continues.
A statement from the Madrid hospital confirmed that the 51-year-old Spaniard, who underwent three operations to remove a brain tumour last month, is no longer being kept in intensive care.
Ballesteros was initially admitted to La Paz after losing consciousness at Madrid Airport on October 6th.
Although the golfing legend is expected to remain in hospital for some time, his ability to change ward has been greeted as a sign that his recovery is progressing well.
A medical official at La Paz stated: "Although this is good news, I would like to ask for everyone''s patience - because the process is a lengthy one and there is still a long way to go.
"He is continuing his recovery and is receiving visits."
Ballesteros, who retired from professional golf last year, won a total of 87 titles during a career which included five Major championships.
