Missed putts on the last by Padraig Harrington and Callaway golfer Ernie Els handed Indian Jeev Milka Singh victory at the Singapore Open.
Both Harrington and Els could have forced a play-off with a birdie on the last, but the failure of both men to find the cup left Singh, a previous winner in Europe and Japan this calendar year, a shot clear at the end of the fourth and final round.
"I couldn''t have asked for better. I''m a very fortunate man to win," Singh, who like Els uses Callaway clubs, said. "That was a good effort out there by Ernie and Padraig but I think that the golfing gods were on my side so I''m breathing much better now."
Singh''s win earned him the tidy sum of US$792,500, taking his season''s earnings past US$1 million - a first for a player on the Asian tour.
Wilson player Harrington, meanwhile, was philosophical despite finishing second.
Although he admitted he would not be feeling too good for a few hours following his missed putt he pointed to his two major wins as reasons to be cheerful.
Harrington won the Open and PSPGA titles earlier this year. |
