Callaway golfer Ernie Els is hoping for a return to winning ways at the 2009 Masters.
The South African has struggled to match his form of previous seasons this year, with his only victory coming at the Honda Classic in March.
However, Els told the AFP news agency that recent improvements to his short game could see him capture his fourth Major title at Augusta and even reclaim the world number one ranking from Tiger Woods.
"I want to win a major next year definitely
Preferably if I could choose one it would be the Masters," the 39-year-old said.
"When you have been number one before, you feel like you can do it again," he added.
After enduring some well-documented problems with his putting, Els said that working with coach Butch Harmon has helped his short game.
The Big Easy has twice finished as runner-up at the Masters, in 2000 and 2004.
He won the US Open in 1994 and 1997 before triumphing at The Open in 2002, when he beat Thomas Levet in a sudden death playoff at Muirfield.
