Day two of the HSBC Champions event has been abandoned after heavy rain hit the Sheshan International Golf Club in China.
Tournament officials declared the day a washout just before 14:00 local time in Shanghai, after pushing back the start of the second round several times.
The delay means the $5 million (£3.1 million) tournament could run over to Monday, unless organisers manage to squeeze 72 holes in on Saturday and Sunday.
"If we have any further delays there is a strong possibility that play in the fourth round may need to be completed on Monday morning and this has been provisionally agreed with all parties," said David Probyn, tournament director for the European Tour.
Srixon golfer Henrik Stenson leads the event after carding a seven-under-par 65 in the first round, with Phil Mickelson, Anthony Kim, Sergio Garcia and Adam Scott all one stroke behind the Swede.
Current forecasts indicate more wet weather on Saturday, with conditions drying up by Sunday morning.
