The PGA of America is not expected to discuss the appointment of its next Ryder Cup captain at its annual meeting in Arizona this week.
Although the new captaincy is usually finalised in the months immediately after the Ryder Cup, this year the PGA appears in no rush to make a decision following September''s triumph at Valhalla.
PGA chief executive Joe Steranka told the Associated Press that the organisation will take a "patient approach" to appointing a new captain for 2010.
"All the accolades deserving of this team have been allowed to play themselves out," he explained.
"There''s still a lot of nice things being written, awards being given and recognition of players and captains. There''s not an urgency to make that decision."
Current frontrunners for the 2010 captaincy include 1995 US Open winner Corey Pavin and Davis Love III, although the latter is hoping to feature in the event as a player.
The 2010 Ryder Cup will take place at Celtic Manor in Wales from October 1st to 3rd.
