Alfredsson triumphs in China

Helen Alfredsson finished 12 under par to win the Grand China Air tournament in Haikou on Sunday.

In the first LPGA event to take place in China, the 43-year-old Swedish player carded an impressive 65 on the last day to beat Taiwanese teenager Yani Tseng by three strokes.

Alfredsson trailed Karen Stupples by five shots going into the final round in China, but hit eight birdies to overtake the Englishwoman and secure her second victory of the season.

Stupples shot a 75 to leave her in fourth place on seven under par, while US player Laura Diaz closed with a 72 to take third on eight under.

Alfredsson''s superb start - she completed the front nine in just 31 strokes - meant she could afford to drop a shot with a poor chip at the 18th hole.

"I was four up and I didn''t have huge pressure on me for the chip shot. It was not a great shot, but it''s great to be on 18 and have a four-shot lead," she said afterwards.

Alfredsson''s other win this year came at the Evian Masters in July.
