Wilson golfer Padraig Harrington and Srixon professional Jim Furyk ended day one of the lucrative PGA Grand Slam of Golf tied for the lead.
The pair carded two-under-par rounds of 68 at Bermuda''s Mid Ocean Club to finish two shots ahead of Retief Goosen.
Nike golfer Trevor Immelman, the only other competitor in the two-round event, looks to be out of contention after slumping to a 76.
Open champion Harrington is hoping to secure the £350,000 first prize after losing out to Angel Cabrera in a playoff last year.
That looked to be an unlikely prospect with five holes of the first round to play, but the Irishman managed to birdie the 14th, 16th and 18th to put Furyk under pressure.
Meanwhile, the PGA Tour has announced that the Grand Slam of Golf - which is intended to be a showdown between the winners of the four Majors - will move to the newly redesigned Port Royal Golf Course in Bermuda next year. |
