Titleist golfer Robert Karlsson has confirmed he will compete in next month''s HSBC Champions tournament in Shanghai.
The Swedish Ryder Cup player has enjoyed an impressive run of form in recent weeks, winning both the Mercedes-Benz Championship and Dunhill Links Championship to climb to the top of the Order of Merit.
He will look to make it three wins from three at this week''s Portugal Masters before attempting to clinch the Harry Vardon Trophy at the season-ending Volvo Masters.
Karlsson has chosen not to take a break at the conclusion of the campaign and will instead jet off to China to compete in the $5 million (£2.8 million) HSBC Champions event at Sheshan International Golf Club.
The tournament is the first on the 2009 European Tour and the 39-year-old is looking forward to beginning the season by taking on some of the world''s best players.
"Sheshan
provides a very good test which is what the world''s top players always want, and is part of the reason why the strength of the field which will assemble in China is so strong," Karlsson said.
Callaway professional Phil Mickelson and TaylorMade golfer Sergio Garcia are among the other players to have signed up for the HSBC Champions. |
