Liang cards 60 in India

A stunning round of 60 ensured Liang Wen-chong ended day one of the Hero Honda Indian Open at the head of the leaderboard.

The Chinese golfer''s 12-under-par total was a new course record and gave him a five-shot lead going into the second round of one of the Asian Tour''s biggest events.

Afterwards Liang said the Delhi Golf Club course was tough, but that his consistent tee shots had ensured "everything fell into place".

"It can be quiet intimidating standing on the tee and looking at the narrow fairways, but I knew what to do as my coach Kel Llewellyn provided me with proper guidance," the 30-year-old added.

Liang''s closest challenger is India''s Jeev Milkha Singh, who took a break from his efforts to clinch a top-ten finish in the European Tour Order of Merit to shoot a 65.

India''s Sanjay Kumar, Taiwan''s Lu Wen-teh and Sweden''s Daniel Chopra, a winner on the PGA Tour this year, all ended the day a shot further back.ADNFCR-1571-ID-18820224-ADNFCR
