Langer aiming for Cup glory

Bernhard Langer will have his eyes on two goals when he tees off at the Senior Players Championship in Baltimore this week.

The German has enjoyed a successful season on the over-50s circuit and is hoping to add a first seniors Major to the Masters titles he won in 1985 and 1993.

If he succeeds in doing that Langer will also improve his chances of topping the Charles Schwab Cup race.

He currently sits second in the standings behind Jay Haas, but with double points available at Baltimore Country Club''s Five Farms (East) course, Langer could strike a decisive blow in the race this week.

"It is a goal for me to win the race," the former European Ryder Cup captain told the PGA Tour''s official website.

"Hopefully, if I can play as well as I can, I can be up at the top."

Haas, who is attempting to finish as the top money winner on the Champions Tour for a third consecutive season, will be hoping to secure a third seniors Major at Baltimore, having failed to finish higher than third in open-age Majors.ADNFCR-1571-ID-18818106-ADNFCR
