The European Tour has revealed a revamped schedule for 2009, with five new tournaments added to the season.
A total of 26 venues will host European Tour events next year, with the revised format climaxing in November 2008 with the Dubai World Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
In addition to that event, the Czech Golf Open, the English Open, the Canal + Open and the Volvo World Match Play Championship have all been added to the Tour, but the New Zealand Open, the BMW Asian Open and the Volvo Masters are not included.
Billed as The Race to Dubai, the 2009 schedule includes 53 events and will be "the most momentous season in the history of the European Tour", according to the organisers.
Chief executive George O''Grady commented: "The 2009 European Tour International Schedule confirms how the European Tour has become ever-more global in its outlook."
The official start of the 2009 season is actually next month, when the HSBC Champions tournament takes place in Shanghai.
Last week, the Tour announced that all players will have to enter a minimum of 12 events to retain their membership in 2009.
