Creamer wins at Half Moon Bay

Paula Creamer secured her eighth career title with victory at the LPGA Samsung World Championship in California yesterday.

Playing in her home state, the 22-year-old hit three birdies in a closing round of 69 to finish nine under par at Half Moon Bay, with South Korea''s Song-Hee Kim one stroke behind in second place.

Leading by one shot going into the final day of the tournament, Creamer found her nerve tested as world number one Lorena Ochoa, US veteran Juli Inkster and Norway''s Suzann Pettersen all produced impressive rounds.

However, a four-foot putt for par at the 18th hole sealed victory for the Pink Panther, who has now won four LPGA titles in 2008.

Speaking about the crucial putt afterwards, Creamer said: "I didn''t see it go in. All I heard was the people cheer for it.

"It was the longest two seconds of my life having it roll into the hole."

Defending champion Ochoa finished tied for third with Inkster, Pettersen and Angela Stanford, who was second going into Sunday''s final round.
