Soren Hansen and Ross Fisher both carded rounds of 64 to share top spot on the leaderboard at the end of day one of the Dunhill Links Championship.
The pair recorded their eight-under-par scores at Kingsbarns, one of three courses being used for the pro-celebrity event.
Martin Kaymer, also playing at Kingsbarns, finished the day a shot adrift of the leaders in third.
A pack of players carded first rounds of 66, most of them at the same course as the leaders.
However, scoring elsewhere on the first day suggests that the leaderboard will have a very different look once the early pacesetters have tackled St Andrews or Carnoustie.
Marc Warren and Marcus Fraser managed best-of-the-day 66s at St Andrews, while Thomas Levet recorded the lowest score at Carnoustie with a 65.
European Tour Order of Merit leader Padraig Harrington shot a 67 at Kingsbarns, while his only realistic rival for the title Lee Westwood finished a shot back at the same venue. |
