An arm injury is expected to keep Cleveland golfer Vijay Singh out of action for at least eight weeks.
The 45-year-old Fijian recently won the FedEx Cup but has been struggling with tendinitis in his left forearm for the past few months.
Singh''s decision to rest until December means he will withdraw from the Iskandar Johor Open, which takes place in Malaysia next month, as well as missing November''s HSBC Champions event in Shanghai.
"I have been dealing with tendinitis in my forearm for a good part of the 2008 season and my doctors instructed me to rest it," the world number three explained.
"As disappointing as it will be to miss these events, it is important that I follow my doctors'' direction and do what is best for my long-term health."
Singh banked $10 million (£5.4 million) for his FedEx Cup triumph, which was effectively sealed after he won the first two playoff events.
The three-time Major winner now has 34 PGA Tour titles to his name.
