Lorena Ochoa beat Candie Kung in a playoff to win the Navistar LPGA Classic yesterday.
After closing with a 70 to finish 15 under par at the event in Alabama, the 26-year-old Mexican defeated Kung with a two-foot par putt at the second extra hole.
The victory is Ochoa''s seventh of the season but her first since May, following a number of disappointing performances from the world number one.
She admitted afterwards that the win should prove to be a timely confidence boost heading into the final few events of the season.
"For sure, I had a few chances to win tournaments before and it''s been a little slow in the last few months," Ochoa said.
"I''m glad I did it this week and hopefully [I can] get in a good rhythm to keep it going and finish strong."
American Cristie Kerr also made the playoff at the RTJ Golf Trail''s Capitol Hill venue, but was eliminated after bogeying the first extra hole.
